Spiral Pointed, Plug .005 Oversize, HSS

These taps will produce threads with a pitch diameter which is .005 larger than the basic pitch diameter.  They are used primarily where the part will be plated or heat treated after tapping or where loss of size, for any reason, is anticipated.  The spiral point forces the chips ahead of the tap, thereby preventing clogging and recutting of chips.  Long holes, in excess of 1-1/2 diameters, can be tapped as a result.  They can be used by hand or under power and are suitable for tapping most materials, expecially those with high ductility.
